Acoording to Blades On Ice, Eric will be performing in a show called "The 555 New Year Skating Spectacular" in Beijing, China on February 18. This is what they say about it:

Marco/Magicworks Entertainment takes a special skating show to Beijing, People's Republic of China this month, called "The 555 New Year Skating Spectacular". On February 18 at the Capital Indoor Stadium, this show which is directed by Robert Wagenhoffer , produced by Australasian Entertainment Corporation, Ltd and managed by Marco/Magicworks Entertainment takes place. The cast leaves on February 9 for extensive daily rehearsals in Beijing. This cast includes: Petr Barna (Olympic Bronze Medalist), Calla Urbanski and Rocky Marval (US National Pairs Champions), Karen Preston (Canadian National Champion), Eric Millot (World Bronze Medalist)[my note - Eric was not a World Bronze Medalist], Vlacheslav Zagoruniuk (World Bronze Medalist), Zuzanna Szwed (Polish National Champion), Natalie Seybold & Wayne Seybold (US National Silver Pair Medalists).

Eric performed in the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Angel on Ice tour during December and January. In the show he skated a solo performance to Little Drummer Boy and also performed as Gargon's sidekick. This show (but not the solos) was televised on NBC in December. For the televised show appeared as a Villager/Lost Soul, with Rudy Galindo playing Eric's role as Gargon's sidekick. If anyone was able to see this show in person, please let me know what you thought of it!

Competition Results and Show Information

Eric competed in the 1998 Equal Challenge of Champions on November 6, 1998, in Sunrise, Florida.

The Results:

  1. Alexei Yagudin
  2. Rudy Galindo
  3. Michael Weiss
  4. Eric Millot

In this competition each person only skated one time. Eric performed a new program to Sarabande by Handel.

His Scores:

Technical5.55.65.55.55.4
Artistic5.75.65.75.85.6

Each competitor also performed on program in the exhibition. Eric skated to La Ola (the one with the soccer ball). He apparently was very popular with the crowd, and BOTH his competitive and exhibition numbers were shown on TV. Good job NBC!

Eric competed in the Grand Slam of Skating, a pro-am competition held on September 25 and 26 in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Results:

  1. Todd Eldredge
  2. Ilya Kulik
  3. Kurt Browning
  4. Yevgeni Plushenko
  5. Viktor Petrenko
  6. Eric Millot
  7. Scott Davis
  8. Takeshi Honda

The format of this competition was that all skaters would skate an interpretive free program in the first round, with the top four advancing to the second round. There the skaters would be divided into pairs of two and the top skater from each pair would advance to the final round. The winner of the last round of skating was the overall winner. A maximum of four triple jumps could be attempted in each program.

Eric Millot was the final skater to compete in the first round, and he skated to his Hunchback of Notre Dame program in the same costume as last season. He landed a triple flip, triple toe loop, and doubled his triple loop.

His Scores:

Technical5.65.55.65.65.55.25.4
Artistic5.65.65.75.65.85.35.4

Unfortuantely, Eric didn't advance to the next round, even though his performance was absolutely wonderful. The Hunchback of Notre Dame program is even more exciting to watch in person, and every aspect of his performance was strong.

Even though Eric didn't advance to the 2nd round, the audiance still had another chance to see him skate. All the skaters who didn't advance skated exhibitions in between the two segments of the competition on Saturday night. Eric skated a program to techno music that I couldn't identify. I *think* this is the same program he used as a technical program at the 1997 U.S. Pros, but I'm not sure since this was the first time I had a chance to see it. He wore a short-sleeved blue shirt with black buttons and shiny black pants. The audiance seemed to like him a lot, and he got a good response to both of his programs.
