The Best Of Brick

By Maximillian Muhammad

Fun high energy funk and oh! them flutes and whippin' Bass lines. sampled to this day from Kid-Play, and MC. Hammer among many. this group was Funkier than a rock that's why they were called Brick. consisting of Jimmy Brown on flute, sax, trumpet, and trombone, Regi hargis Hickman, Lead & Rhythm Guitar and bass, Eddie Irons , Drums, percussion, keys, and Glockenspiel, Cambric Bridgeforth JR. all-types of keys and Ray Ransom , Bass, keys, and percussion. they were another of the self-contained units of 70's soul. writing and producing and playing their own tracks.they are also from Atlanta before the current wave of acts from LaFace, Dallas Austin, and Rowdy records, Keith Sweat and his businesses, and even before Cameo formed Atlanta Artists. though flutes are nothing new in funk or fusion who could resist "Dazz", thought cut still grooves till this day and probably till 2097? and also "Dusic", "Push Push", "Happy", "Good High", and "Ain't Gonna Hurt Nobody". and "Music Matic. one of my favorites that didn't make the cut oddly was "Sweat" The Ray Parker Jr. production. that was in the early 80's funky vein of "Dazz". if given their props they can definitely rock a crib.
