TOEFL Testing

Prospective international students seeking admission to Jefferson
State Community College must present acceptable evidence of 
sufficient English language competence to pursue a course of 
university level study presented in the English language.

Acceptable evidence is as follows:

1.  Graduation from a regionally accredited U.S. high school.

2.  Citizenship in one of the following countries -- Australia, New 
Zealand, Liberia, South Africa, Bermuda, Jamaica, Canada, England, 
Scotland, Ireland, or any other country where the legal official and 
presumed language of the majority of the citizens is English.

3.  Satisfactory completion of a full course of study in an 
accredited English Language Institute.

4.  Completion of Eng 101 in a regionally accredited American college 
or university.

5.  All others must present a satisfactory TOEFL score.  Satisfactory 
means 500 or higher on the old TOEFL or 173 or higher on the new 
computer-administered TOEFL.
