I came to Celtic Studies along with the study of my heritage. My family originates from the Celtic lands, my ancestors were Celtic and Native American. There are many similarities I've found between the two.
My own personal view is that we are all on the same path no matter what our personal belief system. A good friend of mine said it best: "I don't care what you believe, as long as you believe in something."
As for the OBOD, it is a multi-faith organization that has members from I suppose as many different religious persuasions as the average person could name. I don't recommend it for people with blinders. But for those who care about where the world is going, and feel a strong relationship with our universal mother, and/or would like to find out who they really are (not to mention who other people really are), it is the experience of a lifetime.
My own viewpoint has what I hope will be a thought inspiring angle. Language is a tricky thing, and many of our fundamental disagreements stem from that trickster of tricksters. But My philosophy is simple enough.
I have always considered myself a very spiritual person, not to be confused with being a religious person. The difference being that spirituality to me is a personal thing. Religions are man made. They impose human traits on the divine. Which is not to say that I don't, but mine are personal. And further, I have no right to impose my vision on anyone else. At the same time I don't want someone elses idea imposed on me. Listen and I will listen with you.
That is another thing that led me to this thing called Druidry. We are all so different, and yet the same. We don't argue over who is right. We are as individual as our members, and yet still united... in peace, love and light.
