SPARE TIRE THEFT PROTECTION

STEP ONE Lower spare tire for access to the winch mechanism mounted under the frame cross-member. Locate the two hex head mounting bolts that attach the winch mechanism to the frame cross-member. Remove the flange head mounting bolt on the right side of the winch mounting flange. Install the U-bracket using the same mounting bolt. Position the U-bracket, as shown at left. |

STEP TWO
Install the lock bar through the holes in both legs of the U-bracket, with the grooved end facing toward the left side frame rail. Install the crimp-ring retainer in the groove and crimp closed with pliers. |

STEP THREE Raise the spare tire while guiding the lower end of lock bar through the lug hole least obstructed by the winch cable retaining plate in the center of the wheel. The lock bar must remain vertical as spare tire is returned to the full up/stored position.
SPECIAL BLACK MAX LOCKING INSTRUCTIONS: (1) Remove key the from the lock cylinder. (2)Place the Black Max lock assembly over the end of the lock bar with the bar cover/seal end up. (3)Slide the lock assembly upward so that the cover/seal is compressed in the tapered surface of the lug hole. (4)Press in on the "Push To Lock" button with the lock assembly still held firmly against the tapered surface to engage the deadbolt lock mechanism with the groove in the lock bar.
