STEP ONE Lower spare tire for access to the frame cross-member and winch mechanism. Locate the pointed end of the wiring harnass retainer clip extending through the small stamped hole in the cross-member, just to the left of the winch mechanism. Use pliers to squeeze the pointed tip of the retainer clip and push it through the hole.

STEP TWO Use the provided 5/16" x 3/4" bolt, two flat washers and locknut to attach the U-bracket to the cross- member. The bolt with a flat washer is placed through the U-bracket. The locknut and second flat washer install on the back side of the cross-member. Position the U-bracket, as shown and tighten the locknut. Install the lock bar through the holes in both legs of the U-bracket, with the grooved end facing toward the winch mechanism. Place the crimp-ring retainer in the groove and crimp closed with pliers.

STEP THREE Raise the spare tire while guiding the lower end of the lock bar down through the lug hole least obstructed by the tire mounting plate attached to the winch chain.

BLACK MAX LOCKING INSTRUCTIONS (1) Remove the key from the lock cylinder. (2)Place the BLACK MAX lock assembly over the end of the lock bar with the bar cover/seal end up. (3) Slide the lock upward on the bar until the bar cover/seal is compressed in the tapered surface of the lug hole. (4) Press inward on the "Push To Lock" button while holding the lock assembly firmly against the wheel to engage the deadbolt lock mechanism with the lock bar groove.
