INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

SIX WAYS TO DEFEAT THE PLASTIC CHEV/GMC FACTORY SPARE TIRE LOCK

STEP ONE
Lower spare tire for access to winch mechanism and the frame cross- member directly above. Locate and remove the single winch mechanism mounting bolt, using a 15mm open end wrench or flex-socket.

NOTE: The weight of the suspended spare tire must be supported or the mounting flange of the winch mechanism temporarily clamped to frame rear cross-member before removing the single mounting bolt.

STEP TWO
Place the existing winch mechanism mounting bolt through the 3/8” center hole of U-bracket and reinstall the winch mechanism to the frame cross-member. The open side of U-bracket should align with forward edge of winch mechanism mounting flange and parallel to the outer wall of the plastic winch tube as shown in the picture.

STEP THREE
Install the lock bar through the holes in both legs of the U-bracket, with the grooved end facing toward the left side frame rail. Place the crimp-ring retainer in the groove and crimp closed with pliers.

STEP FOUR
Raise the spare tire while guiding the lower end of the lock bar through the lug hole least obstructed by the winch cable retaining plate in the center of the wheel. The lock bar must remain vertical as the spare tire is returned to the full up/stored position.

This lock is designed to install with the spare tire in the original factory position, valve stem down.

STEP FIVE
The PVC lock bar cover/seal is designed to center and hold the lock firmly against the tapered surface of the lug hole. Hold lock inverted with the PVC cover/seal end up. Place lock over the end of the lock bar. Slide lock upward against the tapered surface of the lug hole and rotate to engage lock mechanism to engage lock mechanism with the locking bar groove.
