SPARE TIRE THEFT PROTECTION

STEP ONE Lower spare tire for access to the winch mechanism mounted under the frame cross-member. Locate the two hex head mounting bolts that attach the winch mechanism to the frame cross-member. Remove the flange head mounting bolt on the right side of the winch mounting flange. Install the U-bracket using the same mounting bolt. Position the U-bracket as shown in the picture at left. |

STEP TWO
Install the lock bar through the holes in both legs of the U-bracket, with the grooved end facing toward the left side frame rail. Place the crimp-ring retainer in the groove and crimp closed with pliers. |

STEP THREE Raise the spare tire while guiding the lower end of lock bar through the lug hole least obstructed by the winch cable retaining plate in the center of the wheel. The lock bar must remain vertical as spare tire is returned to the full up/stored position.

STEP FOUR
The PVC bar cover/seal is designed to center and hold the lock firmly against the tapered surface of the lug hole. Hold lock inverted with the PVC cover/seal end up. Place lock over the end of the lock bar. Slide lock upward against the tapered surface of the lug hole and rotate to engage lock mechanism with the lock bar. |
