A picture-perfect camping trip bacomes a portrait in terror for six friends who are forced to land on a remote island when their plane develops engine trouble. They discover a family living on the island, and are first greeted with apple pie and Bible reading by Ma, Pa, Fanny who is expecting her 12th birthday and Woody and Teddy who like to play Cowboys and Indians. The strange thing is that Fanny is 50 years old and the "boys" are not much younger. And while Ma and Pa like to thump their bible, they seem to have disregarded the first commandment entirely. They use a variety of homegrown murderous methods to slay visitors, until there is only one, Cynthia, remaining. But Cynthia has a secret weapon -- her past. She has just been released from a mental hospital, and provides some macabre maneuvers of her own. The all-star cast is headed by Rod Steiger, Yvonne DeCarlo and Michael J. Pollard (Bonnie And Clyde, Roxanne). American Gothic is a menacing macabre mixture of humor and horror, guaranteed to thrill fans of mayhem everywhere.
