Thriller
Directed by Nicholas Meyer
Starring:
Gene Hackman
Mikhail Baryshnikov

Best Actor Oscar winner Gene Hackman (1971, The French Connection) and Mikhail Baryshnikov (1977 Best Actor nominee, The Turning Point) deliver action and suspense as two spies - one American, one Soviet - who form an unlikely alliance when the CIA and KGB unite to assassinate them. Entrenched in the dangerous world of industrial espionage, retired CIA agent Sam Boyd (Hackman) is reactivated to escort former State Department mole Pyiotr Grushenko (Baryshnikov) and $2,000,000 to Berlin for a hush-hush spy swap. A growing friendship forms as the two men discover that the CIA and the KGB have joined forces. They soon become the objects of an international and deadly trackdown which takes them from Washington, D.C., to the underground world of a newly reunited Berlin and, finally, to Paris, where a beautiful French woman and the Eiffel Tower become their only hope for escape. Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) wrote and directed this taut action thriller, which was filmed on location as history was being made with the end of the Cold War.
