Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan star in this powerful look at the political maneuverings of war and the personal toll it takes on the men and women who fight for their country. When Lt. Colonel Nathaniel Serling (Washington) accidentally orders an attack on one of his own tanks, he is temporarily sent home from the Gulf War to await an investigation into his conduct. Asked to review the posthumous candidacy of the first woman (Ryan) to recieve a Medal of Honor, he finds himself plunged into an apparent cover-up surrounding the actions that led to her death. With time running out, he must not only uncover the truth, but confront the demons that torment him about his own actions during the war. Lou Diamond Phillips, Michael Moriarty and Scott Glenn co-star in this intelligent and moving, contemporary drama.
