It couldn't happen here. Not in America. But it did. An event that turned the great American pastime into the great American scandal. It was 1919, a reckless, uninhibited era of gangsters and corruption. A time when America's favorite pastime was the golden sport of baseball. But America would soon learn a frightening lesson: All that glitters is not gold. Baseball heroes like Hap Felsch (Charlie Sheen) and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson (D.B. Sweeney) along with greedy gamblers like "Sleepy" Bill Burns (Christopher Lloyd) would plan one of the most frightening schemes in history. Eight men, for $80,000, would break all the rules...along with the hearts of every kid in the country. And America would see baseball played a whole new way: underhanded.
