"The secrets that hold us together can also tear us apart." Set in rural Louisiana, Eve's Bayou chronicles the Batiste family through the eyes of the middle child, Eve. The family is falling apart. Mother Roz (Lynn Whitfield) tries to turn a blind eye to her husband's philandering ways. Father Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) is a black doctor who loves his family, but finds enjoyment in the arms of his "patients". Louis' sister, Aunt Mozelle (Debbi Morgan), is a known psychic and rumored black widow, having buried three men. Eldest child Cisely (Lisa Nicole Carson) is becoming a woman, and is terribly confused. Eve, after witnessing one of her father's trysts, struggles to make sense of what she has seen and find understanding. She decides to take matters into her own hands.
