Warner Home Video
Drama

Starring:
Bruce Willis
Emily Lloyd

At 17, Samantha Hughes of Hopewell, Kentucky, is pretty, energetic, headstrong...and curious. Curious about the father she never knew. And curious sbout the war that took him away - the war nobody wants to remember. Bruce Willis (Die Hard) is a reclusive vet and Emily Lloyd (Cookie, Wish You Were Here) is his neice Samantha in In Country, the story of a family's struggle to heal the wounds of Vietnam. Like Born On The Fourth Of July, In Country captures both the horror of battle - and the disillusionment of a young soldier who thought war meant glory. And discovers it means both pain and fear. Norman Jewison (Moonstruck, A Soldier's Story, In The Heat Of The Night) directs this heartfelt and powerful movie highlighted by one of the most poignant final scenes ever filmed - the family's emotionally stirring, almost wordless visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC. "In Country is the term American GIs used for their time in Vietnam," explains award-winning author Bobbie Ann Mason, whose novel was the basis for the film. "In a larger sense, In Country means America, for the war has come back home. The Vietnam War is every American's story."
