Enter the eerie, powerful world of Poltergeist, the mesmerizing supernatural screamer created by Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg (1993: Best Picture, Best Director, Schindler's List; 1986: Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award; E.T.; Jurassic Park; The Lost World) and special effects wizard George Lucas (Star Wars). Directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), from a screenplay by Spielberg, Michael Grais and Mark Victor, this horror classic is a "shocking special effects sound and light show" (Roger Ebert) that garnered three Oscar nominations (1982: Visual Effects, Music - Original Score, Sound Effects) and spawned several nail-biting sequels. Starring JoBeth Williams (Kramer Vs. Kramer), Craig T. Nelson, Heather O'Rourke and Dominique Dunne, Poltergeist is a "razzle-dazzle horror show...a thoroughly enjoyable nightmare" (Vincent Canby)!
Nestled in the suburbs, the Freeling house looks like most other homes in the neighborhood...but it's not. Five-year old Carol Anne (O'Rourke) hears voices coming from her family's television, voices that belong to very restless, very angry souls caught between this world and the next. Can Diane and Steven Freeling (Williams and Nelson) wrestle their little girl from the paranormal clutches that have whisked her into their nightmarish realm? Or is her soul destined to dwell among the living dead forever?
