The Witches of Eastwick

Warner Home Video
Comedy
Directed by George Miller
Starring:
Jack Nicholson
Cher
Susan Sarandon
Michelle Pfeiffer
Veronica Cartwright
Richard Jenkins

There are really only two casting choices to play the Devil: Old Scratch himself and Jack Nicholson. The Witches Of Eastwick took the better actor - two-time Academy Award winner Nicholson (1975, Best Actor, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest; 1983, Best Supporting Actor, Terms Of Endearment) - and came up with the slyest, sexiest supernatural comedy thriller ever, earning Nicholson New York and Los Angeles Film Critics Best Actor Awards. The "witches" are three modern-day women yearning for Mr. Right in a sleepy New England town. Played glowingly by Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer they're lovely enough to tempt even the most jaded netherworld denizen. Sure enough, wealthy Daryl Van Horne (Nicholson) comes to town and quickly proves himself a devil with the ladies. Is it coincidence - or the conjuration of the women's unconscious sorcery? Based on John Updike's best-seller and directed by George Miller (The Road Warrior), The Witches Of Eastwick is a star-bright otherworldly delight.
