Martinique versus Trinidad and Tobago
18th January, 1997

Trinidad and Tobago went down to the Frenchmen of Martinique 3-2 to loose there second game in a row and it's third to Martinique this year.

Trinidad and Tobago finished with eight men as Captain David Nahkid, Stern John and Dale Saunders were sent off by the Martinique referee. They were sent off for using abusive language.

Captain Nahkid denied he was using any abusive language because he was talking to his keeper at the time of the incident.

Martinique opened the scoring in the 15th minute. David Nahkid leveled the game soon after. He was then given his marching orders soon after.

In the second half Trinidad and Tobago were still in control. However, the Martinique scored against the run of play. Stern John struck back for the calypso boys to make the score 2-2. However, that score only meant that he should get a red card according to the Martinique referee. He was sent off soon after leveling the score..

Dale Saunders followed John and his captain to the dressing room after the "Fifa qualified" referee sent him off.

With Trinidad and Tobago behind the eight ball with a biased referee Martinique went ahead in the closing minutes of the game.

In the last two games four T&T players have been sent off. Coach St. Clair said that he was satisfied with T&T's performance as they fought back against all odds.
