W Connection looking for seventh straight

CL FINANCIAL San Juan Jabloteh will attempt to become the only team to humble unbeaten leaders W Connection when they clash at Dr Joao Havelange Concacaf Centre of Excellence, Macoya, from 4:00 pm today in a Craven A Professional League seventh round encounter.

Police also host Point Fortin Civic Centre in another seventh round affair at Apex Ground, Fyzabad, also from 4:00 pm.

So far none of the other six teams have been able to find the formula to stop the southerners.

Connection have won all six so far and will hope that St Lucian Earl Jean, with four goals to his name, and Wesley Webb (three goals) can continue their scoring programme for a seventh win.

Their previous 2-1 victory over Defence Force was evidence of their fine work this season, but coach Stuart Charles Fevrier of St Lucia refuses to get carried away with his team's early success.

"It's been really good going by the team so far, especially since we've been around for such a short time. Though I'm happy at the moment we're still far away from the main objective of winning the league. "We're just going to continue working as hard as possible.

"We know that especially now, no game will be easy for us, but we've just got to keep our feet on the ground to achieve what we've set out to do," Fevrier said.

Jabloteh (eight points) will no doubt want to present Fevrier's men with a big hurdle on their way to glory. Otis Seaton is their leading marksman at the moment with four goals and he's expected to get a great deal of support from national player Hector Sam.

At Apex, PFCC (six points) will be eager to regain some respect following their 8-1 demolition by Joe Public last round, when they face the lawmen at Fyzabad.

A win for Steve David's men will push them up to fifth place in event of a loss by Jabloteh, currently in that position. Seventh-spot Police (five points) could also move a couple steps up if they were to beat the "black city" boys.

Third-placed Joe Public meet Futgof in the other seventh round game tomorrow at PSA Ground, Long Circular Road, from 6:00 pm.
