Doc's Khelwalaas gave Joe Public a lesson in scoring goals with a hard fought 2-1 victory at the Dr Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence in the Craven A Professional League yesterday.

CL Financial San Juan Jabloteh continued an evening of upsets when they edge Defence Force 1-0 in the second match of a double header at the same Macoya venue.

A 23rd minute goal by Otis Seaton sparked the upset win.

National striker Hector Sam found Seaton whose shot deflected off defender Kerry Jamerson's shoulder on its way past Clayton Ince in goal.

A minute after Ince received the first ejection of his career for a tackle on Seaton after both lunged for the ball.

Hayden Thomas took his place but playing a man short did not deter the Armymen who fought on with added purpose.

However, some timely second half saves by Jabloteh custodian Trevor Nottingham ensured that Jabloteh went marching home instead of the soldier/coast guard combination.

Police also picked up three valuable points in a 3-1 shutout of Futgof at Petrotrin Ground, Fyzabad.

Kerry Franklyn took his season's tally to six with a double, while Alvin "Sweetbread" Boisson was the other scorer.

At Macoya, watched on by FIFA vice-president and club chairman Jack Warner, goals by Randolph Jerome (20th minute) and Guyanese Collie Hercules (57th) turned the Eastern Lions into pussycats in front of an sizeable crowd.

The opening stages were evenly contested with Doc's coming closer to scoring.

Hercules and Jerome had efforts well saved by goalkeeper Michael McComie.

Doc's persistence paid off in the 20th minute when Jermaine Scott's left side corner was flicked on from the near post by Jerome which Public's Alvin Thomas tried desperately to clear, only to see it bubble over the line for a 1-0 Doc's lead.

Soon after Nigerian Ugene Onuorah saw his shot just miss the left post for Public.

Most of Public's attack came through the left side and at times, there were signs of misunderstanding between Onuorah and Terry St Louis.

Wesley John spurned a glorious chance for Public, hitting overbar from the centre of the 18-yard box.

At the start of the second half Public looked like a team on a mission.

Onuorah forced a sharp reflex save from Doc's keeper Kevin Placide but soon after the Lions were dealt a deadly bite.

The shifty Hercules collected a deep ball midway in the opposition territory and worked his way goalwards fending of stiff challenges from two defenders before unleashing a low shot past McComie.

The goal brought a smile from Warner while the Doc's supporters celebrated around and in front of him.

Four minutes following Hercules' item, defender Coulson Dick's effort brought Placide into action .

They managed to pull one back in the 78th minute when St Louis took a ball from 30 metres outside the penalty area before hitting a shot into the upper left hand corner of the net.

The tempo of the game decreased as Public maintained possession in and around the Doc's 18-yard box.

Minutes before the final whistle, Rodney Stokes' header brought the best out of Placide, who came up big moments after, blocking St Louis' last ditch attempt.

Public bombarded their opponents in their danger area as even keeper' McComie began to make himself available for a couple corners.

Their last hope went abegging when Wesley John's flick with his left foot ended up safely in Placide's grasp.
