W Connection land $.5m deal

W CONNECTION, recently selected to play in the Craven A Professional Football League, have signed a sponsorship deal with Errea and Apta, two Italian manufacturing firms.

Bob Panther, European distributor for the companies, finalised a three-year deal with the local side, worth $.5 million, and has also offered to double the offer if Connection were to capture the title in the first year.

Errea, which also deals with other Italian clubs as well as English side Middlesbrough among others, will provide three uniforms which will also match the footwear being sponsored by Apta.

Peter Millar, marketing manager for W Connection, was high in praise of the sponsors saying, "W Connection are proud to be associated with Errea and Apta as they will ensure the very highest reputation for us both in Trinidad and throughout the world."

Arrangements are also being made for teams from the United Kingdom to visit this country as well as for W Connection to travel abroad to engage in friendly matches.

W Connection recently hired St Lucian Stewart Charles Fevriere as coach as they attempt to get themselves properly geared for the start of the league.

Eight foreigners are also expected to line up for W Connection this year.

Seven are already here, including St Lucians Titus Elva, Elijas Joseph, Christopher Maximin, Jonathan Mc Vane and Alvin Xavier; as well as two African players from Sierra Leone, whose names have not yet been disclosed. A Brazilian is also expected to be in their line-up.
