Track 2000...Emily

Here are a few shots of Emily as she participates as a freshman in track. The Monett girls took first place in conference for the 7th year in a row, and won the District 6 title for the first time since 1987.

The first three pictures are of me running the anchor leg of the 4 X 800 relay at districts. The pictures are in chronological order. As you can see, we won!
We went on to win the District 6 Championship for the first time since 1987! The next three pictures are of the team and of the trophy that we all worked so hard to win. That's me, second from the left.

The next two pictures are of the two relay teams that I was fortunate to be a part of in state competition. Our 4 X 400 team and our 4 X 800 team both ran very well, but not quite well enough to get a medal. The 4 X 400 team turned in our best time of the year, and the 4 X 800 turned in our 2nd best time. We were all very proud to have made it all the way to state competition.

Here I am lining up to run the open 800 at State. My qualifying time in the sectionals was the slowest (2:28), so I got put on the outside lane, the worst place to be in that race, in my opinion.
Here I am, half way through race. As you can see, I'm close to last out of 16. You can't tell from the picture, but there are about 9 girls ahead of all the ones you see here.
Somehow, I managed the strength to pass a bunch of people on the last lap, and ended up in 6th place! That's my time and my final position posted on the sign.
