CHRISTMAS HOLLY
Today we tramped
Through the snowy woods
To search for holly berries;
We were warmly clothed from head to toe
And each of us was merry.

We crossed a curving silver stream
That tinkled like cut glass;
While above in the pewter sky,
We saw ebony crows pass.

The hemlocks were cloaked in ermine,
White pines were a sight to see;
Then we discovered a holly bush. . .
A masterpiece by the Deity.

It flaunted shining big berries
So we plucked the red-clad treasure,
Then headed for our cozy house,
Brimming with Yuletide pleasure!
