One of our favorite places to tape the show is a nightclub called Mother, located on Washington and 14th St. (in the meat market). Mother is the birthplace of many alternative and avant garde scenes... hence the name Mother: nourishing and nursing new and creative venues that are in their early infancies.

Mother hosts such nights as Click and Drag (cyberfetish Saturdays), The Clit Club (gay/lesbian Fridays), and the Fang Club, also known as The Long Black Veil (vampyre/gothic Thursdays). It was here that I first undertook my duties as cameraman and taped something for the show. I was rather nervous, but the people and staff of Mother were most welcoming. Empress Chi Chi Valenti and her right hand man Flavin are just a few of the friendly faces that one finds at Mother. There is always something strange or unusual happening there, and a genuine sense of fun and comraderie prevails.



The NY vampyre scene owes a lot to Mother; Chi Chi Valenti has provided a sanctuary for many different aspects of self expression and individual freedom. Without her and her domain, Vampyre Dreams would not have had the privilege of meeting so many marvelous people, and taping innumerable gatherings and events of all kinds.
