PIGEON CREEK CEMETERY
We arrived at Pigeon Creek, just as dusk was beginning to settle in. There were three of us on this night: Rene', Edgar, and myself, Linda. We unloaded our equipment from the truck, and proceeded to examine our surroundings. The cemetery consisted of a church on the hill, with the area surrounding it on two sides, making up the graveyard. Some of this is sloped, but the majority of it is flat. The first church built on this property was in 1778. The present church was built in 1829. The cemetery is one of the oldest in the area, with burials beginning in 1777. As we wandered around, reading tombstones, Rene' wandered off on her own, to take pictures. Later on, Rene' mentioned having an incident of her own. As she joined us, the sun was beginning to drop very quickly. Rene' had forgotten her extra flash in the truck, and she and Edgar walked back to get it. I decided to stay there, as they were only approximately 50 feet away from me. Halfway to the truck, Rene' turned and brought the flashlight back to me. I continued to walk around, reading the tombstones, looking around me at the same time, and keeping an eye on the truck. There was absolutely no wind this night. And it was summertime, before the leaves were falling from the trees. I glanced up from reading a tombstone, and caught a movement out of the corner of my eye, two rows across from me. I thought I'd seen just the black shadow outline of a rabbit, or some other small animal. I watched, but nothing moved between the other stones. After awhile, I went back to what I was doing. I kept hearing the rustling of dry leaves, but there wasn't any. The sound never stopped. I heard it the entire time we were in the cemetery. As I was reading the one stone, something touched my hip. Actually, caressed is a better word... like a lover's caress. So I wasn't startled or scared by this. I said, "Hello? Is someone there? Do you have something you'd like to say?" I heard leaves rustling all around me, slowly at first. I heard something on the other side of the stone, but when I shined the flashlight that way, there was nothing. The rustling was getting louder, faster, and closer. I wasn't scared, ...not yet. Suddenly, out of nowhere, I saw... something... I lost it then and there! I RAN to the truck as fast as I could! Rene' asked me what was wrong, so I told them. We walked back over to the exact spot, but it was staying back. We walked all over the cemetery, which took about two hours. I heard the rustling the whole time, but didn't see anything again, but felt like I was being watched. Rene' told us when she was wandering by herself, taking pictures, after we first arrived, she kept hearing a rustling noise behind her, and felt as if someone was watching her. And WHAT did I see? I can't answer that, because I don't know. Would I go back to Pigeon Creek? Yes, to get an explaination for that caress...
Pigeon Creek Cemetery is located in Southwestern Pennsylvania in Somerset Township, just off the Dunningsville exit of Interstate 70. That is, if you dare...
