1973 was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Rams.With a new owner and head coach and the trade of fan favorite Roman Gabriel to Philadelphia. The "experts" picked the Rams to finish 3rd at best. And the first three preseason games looked like the experts were right. The Rams looked awful. But, the Rams showed what they truly were in the last preseason game by destroying the niners.The season opener for 1973 took them to kansas City. The Rams were a 8 point underdog but whipped the Chiefs 23-13. It was the beginning of seven great years. To those who were with them back then, wasn't it a great Sunday in Sept. of 1973?
