THOSE PLAYOFF GAMES

I hated everything about the Dallas Cowboys.

The flex defense, shotgun formation, the shuttle pass, that star on the helmet, doomsday defense,Cowboy cheerleaders, Roger the dodger, that saying "America's team, those damn hats and that head they went on.

Why?

Because they kept my Rams from being in the Super Bowl three times in the 70's.

But, now I am almost 40 and my LA Rams are no longer my LA Rams. and I look back at our rivalry in the 70's and say to myself "FOR A TEAM I TRULY HATED I SURE DO MISS"

1967 MEETING

The Rams met the Cowboys in the Cotton Bowl on Oct. 1, 1967.

Roman Gabriel engineered three long TD drives and the Rams defense frustated QB Don Merideth and the Cowboys offense all day.

George Allen created a defense to slow down that hi octane Dallas offense.

Allen had Maxie Baughn call the defense.

Baughn said "I had 5 defensive plays and would call one in the huddle, when the Cowboy's showed their formation, Maxie would audible.

The Rams ran on the Cowboys all day long. Over 220 yards total on the ground and the defense collected 6 sacks as the Rams won 35-13. LISTEN

1973 PLAYOFF GAME

The 1973 Ram playoff game against Dallas was the start of the Ram omen. The Rams went 12-2 in 1973 and Dallas went 10-4. The Rams also beat Dallas in the regular season , where was the game played? In Dallas. LISTEN The first two plays the Ram's offense turned the ball over to Dallas.Which the Cowboys turned into 14 points. Just 7 minutes into the game, Dallas had a 17-0 lead. And our kicker, David Ray, missed 3 chip shot field goals (9 big points). LISTEN The Ram defense was responsible for getting the rams back into the game LISTEN

1978 REGULAR SEASON GAME

It wRay hated the press and got fed up with all the questions on how great the Cowboys are and said "They haven't played us and were going to kick their ASS". i LOVE IT.

JIM YOUNGBLOOD

The Ram defense held Dorsett to under 2 yards a carry and forced Staubach into throwing 4 interceptions.

PAT HADEN

The Rams offensive line gave Haden time to throw and hit Jessie and Jackson on two long TD's. LISTEN

as the third game of the season. All week long Ray Malavasi hadto answer how his Rams were going to handle the Super Bowl champions. Ray finally got fed up and said "they haven't played us and were going to kick their ass".
