- Right now my foremost hobby is trying to finish a little project which has had two incarnations and lasted over three years -- making a movie about roleplaying.

A Tribute to KODT from Marvin
Back in KODT No. 24 "Hackzilla"....
Dear KODT,
The following is a true story. I walked into one
of my local gaming supply stores (we're blessed with
several in my hometown so I have to spread my bucks
around to keep them all in business) and was
immediately accosted by the owner with, "Marv, did
you know you're in a comic book?"
With arched eyebrows I wondered what scheme this
guy was up to this time. Normally I buy a couple of
comics, a gaming magazine, and pack of trading cards.
He calls over to the counter help to see if he's got
any Knights of the Dinner Table left. Surprise. He
had the last two issues -- and of course, the last
copy of each. As he frantically flipped the pages I
began to wonder if the years of comic book dust had
finally sent him over the edge. I was shocked.
There I was sitting at the end of a gaming table
(my normal place), hunched slightly (better posture
to guard dice, foodstuffs, and notes), and dressed
in a plain t-shirt (somewhat out of the ordinary --
I prefer my U.S. Rangers t-shirt "kill them all and
let God sort it out" for first impressions). The only
difference was that I was in cartoon form.
Caught up i the frenzy -- a few other people in the
store had to see and remark about the resemblance -- I
purchased both copies and have been getting the same
response from my gaming group, friends, and coworkers.
So who am I? According to your strip, I am the
living incarnation of Weird Pete. Or is Pete the
incarnation of me?
Back in college I spent all semester putting on the
polishing touches for my Small Business Administration
semester project -- a gaming store proposal. Hmmmmm.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you for the instant
popularity. I know that some people might remark that
a balding guy with a prominent nose and glasses, a Bozo
hairstyle, and a full beard might seem somewhat common
but the resemblance is uncanny.
Enjoy the photograph and of course I'll be anxiously
waiting to see more of my favorite character.
That was then....
On January 30, 1999, I got to meet Jolly Blackburn,
the creator of Knights of the Dinner Table. Above he
is stunned as I hand him a copy of KODT #1 for his
autograph. Below we pose with the issue my e-mail was
published. Notice the Weird Pete's Games Pit t-shirt.
Thanks for memories in St. Charles, MO.
