Kate Winslett

Jack Dawson is a third class passenger and an American drifter who won his ticket to Titanic in a lucky game of poker.

JACK DAWSON

Rose DeWitt Bukater is the17-year-old daughter of an upper class family, returning home to Philadelphia onboard the Titanic. She is a first class passenger, engaged to a proud and obnoxious Cal Hockley.

"I saw my whole life as if I'd already lived it...an endless parade of parties and cotillions, yachts and polo matches... always the same narrow people, the same mindless chatter. I felt like I was standing at a great precipice, with no one to pull me back, no one who cared...or even noticed."

ROSE DEWITT BUKATER

Jack and Rose meet as Rose threatens to jump off from the Titanic, after her grim realization of her life to come. "I saw my life as if I have already lived it. An endless parade of parties and polo matches, always the same narrow people."

Jack, however, is a pennyless free spirited artist who captures Rose's heart. From then on, their love blossoms across their "class boundaries", to a true love that they are willing to risk their own lives for one another.

Caledon Hockley is a heir to a great fortune and he is also Rose's fiance.

"There's nothing I couldn't give you. There's nothing I'd deny you if you would not deny me. Open your heart to me, Rose."

CAL HOCKLEY

The 101-year-old Rose Calvert, a woman who claims to be a survivor of the Titanic disaster.

"A woman's heart is a deep ocean of secrets."

OLD ROSE

Ruth DeWitt Bukater is the mother of Rose who really wants her daughter to be married to Cal Hockley as they were run out of "money".
