The festive New Year's celebration,
Came sadly to an end,
When the news caster had announced,
The passing of a friend.
In an instant, my mind flashed back,
To my childhood memories.
I remembered when he would sing,
I'd swear it was just to me!
I never really got to know,
The man he came to be.
Although we did grow up together,
Through the magic of TV.
His memory will live on in me,
With every passing day.
But something deep inside me died,
When Rickey Nelson passed away.
