Stones

Charging your stone
It is first very important to charge your stone! Hold the stone in your projective (dominant) hand, letting your natural energy pour from your body and into your stone! Don't be stingy Give it all you can! You have lots of energy. We all do! It is our personal power which we can move from ourselves and into our stones. Or any Wiccan tool for that matter. You want to charge this stone just as you've charged your other tools. This is the heart of magik. Your energy, right? Be sure to charge it while concentrating on whatever need you have. Be it good health, money, or whatever. When you feel the stone vibrating with your own energy, it is done. Pretty nice, huh?

Projective and Receptive
It is actually very important to keep an even usage of projective and receptive stones. If utilizing too much of one and not enough of the other, it is most likely that you will feel it physically within your body. Be it an unexplainable feeling of aggression or an increase in moodiness!

PROJECTIVE
stones are outward, aggressive and have strong energies to deflect or create movement. They are often dense stones in fiery colors like red, orange, yellow, gold. But they can also be opaque or clear. They are usually shiny like a ruby or a topaz.

RECEPTIVE
stones are for inward uses. They have a calming effect and have a magnetic energy. They are used to draw things in or to absorb your negativity and allow you to experience peace. They are usually cooler colors like blue-green, gray, silver, pink, black (no color) or white (all colors). Examples are aquamarine, moonstone, pink tourmaline and rose quartz.

Just remember, if one of your energies (projective or receptive) becomes stronger and more stressed than the other it is not uncommon for you to feel the same. Likewise, if one of your energies is lethargic, you too may get "sleepy" or disinterested! So really try to keep an even balance. If you notice you're feeling strange in some way, look into which kind of stones you've been utilizing lately. That just may be your answer! For example: if you're wearing Rhodocrosite to gain extra energy and using Black Agate to increase courage, be sure to meditate with some Amethyst to absorb any negativity!

AGATE
Powers: Strength, courage, love, healing, with strong protective powers. Use in spells or rituals involving these different aspects. It's energy can be either projective or receptive depending on what type of agate you have. There are many different types, including: Banded (projective) which can restore energy and ease stress. Black (projective) for courage, protection. Blue/White (receptive) to guard against physical dangers. Brown (projective) for success or wealth. Green (receptive) to improve physical health. Moss (receptive) for healing purposes, happiness, long life or to make new friends/discover new treasures! Red (projective) to promote peace and instill calmness. We should ALL have a red agate!

AMBER
Powers: Healing, protective powers, love, luck, and strength. It is a projective stone. Amber's planet is the Sun and it's element is Fire. Amber is not a stone but actually a fossilized resin of cone-bearing trees, some of which is dated back to 8000 B.C.E.!! It can be used in numerous types of spells or rituals but is most commonly worn as a protective adornment. A genuine amber-bead necklace is most common but also quite pricey! It can strengthen almost any spell any will increase effectiveness in your magic!

AMETHYST
Powers: Healing, peace, happiness, dreams, or courage. Amethyst's element is Water and it's planets are Jupiter and Neptune. It is a receptive stone that can produce peaceful sleep or healing dreams. It is strongly a stone of peace! Amethyst has no negativity to it whatsoever. Hold it to feel stress just slip away! Wear it during meditation for great spiritual enlightenment or psychic awareness! A stone of pure love!

AQUAMARINE

It is a receptive stone which is worn or carried to enhance the utilization of psychic powers. It allows our psychic impulses to be heard and to enter our consciousness. It is a cleansing/purification stone and can be utilized in purification baths or rituals. Aquamarine has a very calming effect and could be helpful to relieve any emotional problems you may experience.

BLOODSTONE

Its extremely useful to stop bleeding! A magical first aid! It can be used to increase physical strength or lend courage. You would assume by its name that it is a red stone but actually bloodstone is green in color. Uses include attracting wealth.

CAT'S EYE
Powers: Wealth, beauty, gambling, protection, healing. Cat's eye's planet is Venus and its element is the Earth. It is a projective stone. Wear it to increase beauty or preserve youthfulness physically or, better yet, spiritually!! Can be utilized in wealth/money spells. Often keep it with money to guard and increase your wealth. Cat's eye can also be worn for mental health and to dispell depression.

CITRINE

COAL
Powers: Money. Coal is a receptive stone. It's planet is Saturn and it's element is Earth. It can be carried in your pocket or kept with your money because it is typically known to be a money-attractant. This surprised me because I live in the "coal-region" of PA (there's coal all around us!) but it is a very depressed area!

CORAL
Powers: Healing, agriculture, wisdom, peace, protection. Coral is a receptive stone who's planet is Venus and element is Water. It is not actually a stone but the skeletal remains of sea creatures and therefore is not commonly used in magic. It's name is derived from Greek terms meaning "daughter of the sea" and was traditionally worn to regulate a woman's menstrual flow. Today, though, it is worn to guard against accidents, theft, acts of violence and by women to prevent sterility. It can also ward off panic, depression and fear. It is your own personal choice as to whether or not you want to utilize coral in your magic.

EMERALD
Powers: Love, mental powers, eyesight, money, protection. It is a receptive stone. Emerald's planet is Venus and it's element is Earth. Because Emerald is such an expensive stone, you may use Green Tourmaline, Aquamarine, Beryl, or Peridot in it's place. But if you want to shop around you may be lucky enough to find a lower quality emerald at a reasonable price. Use it for any business spells, to strengthen your memory, or to attract love! For best results, Emeralds should be set in copper or silver.

GEODE
Powers: Meditation, fertility, childbirth. Geode's element is Water. It is a receptive stone which, in folklore, was thought to be favored by eagles. Geodes are egg symbols and are related to our Mother the Goddess! Most are hollow concretions containing crystals and are quite beautiful! If you've ever seen an Amethyst geode you've probably felt some sort of attaction to it! They can be used in meditation as a contemplative stone. You can also carry or wear a Geode to attract love and avoid miscarriages.
