These chatrooms are associated with the ICQ Christians In Recovery List but anyone who is a Christian and attends any of the 12 step recovery programs (AA, AlAnon, OA,FAA, ACA, NA, SA, GA, CODA, etc.) is welcome to come in and chat.

All you need is to put this ICQ# on your contact list to enter the ICQ chat: 4091397. It will appear on your ICQ contact list as "&ChristiansNRecovery". When you see it come online, all you have to do is send a CHAT REQUEST and you will automatically enter the chatroom.

Newcomers are welcome! We are all new so don't be intimidated. Here are some things that may help you after you enter the ICQ chatroom:

(1) If you have any trouble just know that you can MESSAGE the chat room and ask for help directly from the chat administrator without leaving the chat room.

(2)It helps to have your chat board in IRC mode. To do this, as soon as you enter the chatroom, go to the top of the chat room board and click on "LAYOUT". Then put a check mark by "IRC".(If you don't do this, as soon as the 7th person enters the chatroom, the board will appear to go nutz as it automatically switchs from split or horizontal to IRC mode at this point.

(3) If you have not used the IRC mode you may not know that the dialog is written in the bar beneath the board and you must enter the dialog using the ENTER KEY on your keyboard. your dialog will not show up for others to read until the ENTER KEY has been hit.

(4)Most of the time people can't see everyone who is in the chatroom. In order to see everyone in the list on the right hand of the board, you need to go to "DISPLAY"" and check "AUTO COLOR" and "OVERRIDE FORMAT". When you do this, the ICQ automatically sets everyone's color and you will see everyone on the board. If you don't do this, the chances are that someone is going to have a color font that is the same color background of your personal board and you will not be able to see them. So, always go to "DISPLAY" and check "AUTO COLOR" and "OVERRIDE FORMAT" so you can see everyone.

It really isn't hard and it is a lot of fun so don't be intimidated by the novelty if you are a newcomer. We were all new at one time and we like to help one another.
