For those who do not have ICQ and for those who want to meet their online recovery friends and have an online meeting any time day or night, this page is equipt with a chat room. You don't have to pay long-distance to reach your sponsor when on vacation. Just arrange to meet here.
It may take some time to load the first time but it will load easier after that. You do need a Java enabled browser.
12 Step Service available here: If you and other friends would like to volunteer to moderate a 12 step group here, just email me the time you plan to be in the chat room and I will post on this page. Needed: OA, AA, AlAnon, CODA, ACOA, NA or any 12 step meetings to be open here.
A particular need is a Suicide Prevention chat room and a chat room for those who are going through depression.
The requirement would be that you sit online for the hour that you volunteered. I will post the times and your first name as moderator for that time slot. Few people have an extra hour but if you do, please pray about it.
The Java caplet will continue to load after the rest of the page is loaded. The next time you come here it will already be ready for chat and will not take as much time to load.

To enter the ParaChat at the bottom of the page all you need do is wait for the java caplet to load, put in your nick and press connect. Write your dialog in the bar beneath the chat room and press enter on your keyboard. Notice that ParaChat has a "float" feature. This allows you to float the chatroom away from the page and maximize it for better viewing. The "surf" feature allows you to click "surf" and go to any URL that was posted in the chatroom without leaving the chat room.

Newcomers are welcome! We were all new at one time so don't be intimidated.
It really isn't hard and it's a lot of fun.
The Ignore Button. I wish I didn't have to talk about this but it is important. Since this board is unmoderated you may find some rude people using it who are not at all connected with the Recovery programs. We can't control who uses the chat room so the "ignore" button has been created to stop the harrassment. Just highlight the offending party(s) in the chat list on the right of the board and then check the ignore button. It'll be as though they don't exist. Usually they will go and harrass someone else.
Wouldn't it be great if it was that easy to get rid of all life's annoyances?
