nMac
The network Macintosh
Introducing nMac. The ultimate business computer, it's the totally low-cost, ridiculously high-powered, stupendously easy-to-use network terminal from Apple. Designed exclusively for LAN environments, the nMac takes the best parts of the G3, strips away the non-essentials, and offers simply the most advanced network terminal ever -- at a price which means serious business.

With its cross-platform, top-of-the-line, built-in 100-Base TX ethernet, the nMac is ready to plug and play on any network (Windows or Mac) with absolutely no setup. It comes loaded with the incredibly cool Mac OS 8.6 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.1, making it the most net-friendly computer ever. And the included Macintosh Java 2.1 software gives you superfast enterprise functionality to boot. And when used in conjunction with a Mac OS X Server, the nMac is network bootable.

Of course, Mac wouldn't be Mac if it didn't knock the pants off a Pentium. At the heart of the nMac is IBM's new copper-process chip, the 400-MHz G3 with half a meg of Apple's exclusive backside cache. Built-in USB and Firewire allow blazing peripherals. And add 64 megabytes of rocket RAM, and nMac can handle anything you throw at it twice as fast as the fastest PC. (Like our optional Microsoft Office 98 configuration.) You can even run Windows 98 like a speed demon with the included Virtual PC 2.1.

But since the translucent, midnight-blue nMac with its gorgeous built-in monitor sheds features that are unnecessary in network environments (things like floppy, modem, CD-ROM, enormous hard drives, extraneous connectors, infrared ports, speakers, and bundled software), Apple can offer it an irresistable price, in two fantastic configurations:
