Nevada Dansie is an honors graduate of
Western Montana College of The University of Montana with and Associate degree in Graphic
Design and a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree with an Arts emphasis. Nevada's paintings
have won numerous ribbons and awards. She taught herself to draw and paint in her spare
time long before she had the opportunity to obtain formal training at the Portland Art
Museum and at Western. Her paintings are in private collections all over the United
States. Nevada has already enjoyed one 20
year long career which included such skills as sculpting and engraving masters for gold,
bronze and silver ingots, as well as molds for belt buckles, for the Franklin Mint. She
was also a sign engraver and master plastic fabricator, making such things as large
aquariums, skylights and making prototypes for inventors. One of her favorite projects was
making a bentwood-style rocking chair entirely out of clear plastic as a conversation
piece for her employer's office.
If Nevada's paintings seem like an odd mix of ideas and
styles, that's because they are! She changes focus and style to suit a mood, to break out
of a rut, to make a statement, as therapy, or simply to experiment. A prolific artist, she
often stays up all night to paint when the world is quiet and the phone doesn't ring. She
has a skeptical but abiding interest in the paranormal as well as the natural, and both
figure prominently in her work.
