A Manifest Of Captain Kidd's Cargo

Before a ship left port on a voyage a manifest was made of every item in its cargo hold. Usually Privateers would travel from one port to another for the sake of trading goods. Along the journey he was free to attack whatever enemy ships he encountered.
Since so many vessels were lost to storms, attacks and groundings, the companies that supplied the goods to be traded began ordering these cargo manifests. That way if something ill-fated befell the ship and its crew, the holders of the corporation would be able to recover the loss of the items on board through insurance.
Above is a detailed manifest of goods that Captain William Kidd delivered to port.
