THE DOUCETTE FAMILY TREE

Germain Doucet, the first ancestor of this name, arrived at LaHave in Acadia in 1632 with Commander Isaac de Razilly. In July 1640, we find him again under the title of "Captain of Pentagoet". He received war honors against the Bostonians

Germain Doucet was later a Major and Commander of Port Royal when it was captured by the British in 1654. He, along with all the officers, were forced to return to France. His son Pierre, however, remained behind.

Margaret Bourgeois was the sister of Jacques Bourgeois. We have no information about Margaret, but we were able to discover the place of birth of Jacques Bourgeois at La Ferte-Gaucher. He was baptised on the 8th of January 1621 in the Catholic Church of Saint Romain. The place was called LaVerdure from where Germain Doucet and his brother-in-law originated, in the actual Commune of Basseville in Seine-en-Marne (at the limit of the Marne). _____________________________________________________________________
