Plain Pie Crust

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour

1/4 cup cold (ice) water

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 tsp salt

Directions

Sift the flour then measure it and sift together with the salt.

Cut in the shortening until the mixture is coarse and granular.

Slowly add the ice water, a little at a time, until little balls of dough just hang together in one large ball.

Divide dough in half and place 1/2 of dough on a lightly floured board and roll to desired thickness.

Wrap second half in a plastic wrap and place in the fridge until ready to use.

Place rolled dough into bottom of your desired pie plate.

Blind bake or fill and use as is.

When making pie dough, the less you work with it,the lighter it will be and the longer you mix or roll it, it will be tough. You may also mix this in a food processor if you desire.
