Elena Dabul was born in Mendoza, Argentina. She began music studies in her native city at an early age. In 1989 she earned the degree of "Licenciada en Piano" from the School of Music of the Faculty of Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina, under the direction of Dora De Marinis. She received the Gold Medal distinction from the Faculty of Arts for academic excellence, and an Honorary Mention from the Argentine Federation of University Women. Her graduation thesis was "Alberto Ginastera. His piano works." Ms. Dabul has attended workshops and master classes offered by Claude Frank (Germany), Arminda Canteros (USA), Gerhard Oppitz (Germany), Alcides Lanza (Canada),. Since 1979 she has concertized as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, offering recitals in cities in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Germany and Venezuela. She has performed in distinguished concert halls such as the Salon Dorado of Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, the Auditorium of Mar del Plata, the Auditorium "Ing. Jan Victoria" in San Juan, the Sala Rautenstrauch in Bariloche, the Teatro de Talca in Chile, the Auditorium of the Guayasamin Foundation in Quito, Ecuador and the Aula Magna of the Universidad de los Andes in Mérida, Venezuela. She has also appeared in television and Argentine National Radio.

Elena Dabul has been a soloist with the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo Symphony Orchestra, the Mar del Plata Symphony Orchestra and the San Juan Symphony Orchestra. The specialized critics have praised her as "rara avis" because of the exceptional blend of qualities she possesses: "intelligence, audacity, technical mastery, impressive sound quality and maturity." Elena Dabul has premiered works by the Argentine and international contemporary composers, such as Leopoldo Martí and Carlos Barraquero . She has performed local premieres in Mendoza . In 1994 she was invited to Quito, Ecuador, to offer lectures on Argentine Piano Music and Contemporary Piano Music during the "Ciudad de Quito" Second Festival of Latin American Composers.

Ms. Dabul has been awarded first prizes at the "Ciudad de Mar del Plata" Seventh Young Musicians National Selection (1981) and the Student Concerto Competition of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo Symphony Orchestra (1981 and 1985). She received Honorary Mention in the Young Argentine Soloist Ninth Competition (Santa Fe, 1985). She obtained the second prize in the Second Bi-Annual Municipal Piano Competition (Mendoza, 1986) and the Second National Piano Competition (Trelew, 1986). In 1992 and 1993 she received scholarships from the Fundacion Antorchas and the Camping Bariloche to attend chamber music workshops . Elena Dabul is a founding member of the Group of Pianistic Research "Alberto Ginastera" and the Fundacion Ostinato, directed by Prof. Dora De Marinis. In connection with these institutions, she has widely participated in the the difussion of piano music, especially by Argentine composers. In 1993, year of the tenth anniversary of Ginastera's death, she published an article in the Los Andes newspaper (Mendoza) titled "Ginastera, el genio musical de América." She has acted as an advisor for conferences, concert cycles and presentations about this composer in several occasions. She authored part of the liner notes of the CDs with the complete piano works by Alberto Ginastera. She has co-authored the project "Reorganization of the Piano Division of the School of Music" submitted to the Faculty of Arts of the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo and to the Second Congress of Music Educators of the Center, in Cordoba (1993). She has also co-authored the research projects "The pianistic interpretation as a result of the historical-esthetic, technical-pianistic and compositional factors through the different styles," "The interpretation of Argentine piano music as a result of the convergence of compositional styles and pianistic schools," "Compilation, study and diffusion of Argentine music" among others, sponsored by the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. She has presented these research works in congresses and conferences.

Dabul has participated in the recording of compact discs , such as the "Complete Works for Piano by Juan José Castro" (1995, nominated for the Classical Music Award by the Entertainment Journalist Association), "Senderos" (music by Susana Anton, 1997), and "Complete Works for Piano by Carlos Guastavino." In 1999 she recorded works by Carlos Guastavino that are pending release. Other recordings include works by Norman Dello Joio and "Canto de Soledad" by Carlos Barraquero.

In 1997 Ms. Dabul was the president of the organization "Juventudes Musicales" Mendoza chapter. She is currently a Professor of Chamber Music and the staff accompanist of the wind and percussion divisions of this school. She is also a member of the Research Council of the Universidad de Cuyo.
