Good News!

Due to overwhelming response in Germany, the fund for Samira's dolphin therapy actually exceeds what is needed! She and her mother will be flying to Florida this summer for the care she desperately needs.
M.E.L.T has requested that the funds initially raised by the Mother's Torch US Wing for Samira be used elsewhere.

The British Wing of the Mother's Torch has been diligently working to raise funds for the Penn Wood Appeal that the Woodland Trust in England is sponsoring. In short, the Woodland Trust is attempting to save a virgin stand of ancient forest from golf course developers. The provided link gives quite a bit of information.

The US Wing has raised over $200.00 so far for this cause with the sale of pins. Also, it was discovered that The Mother's Torch US Wing did NOT need to apply for tax exempt status with the IRS, so the money raised from the photo raffle will also be donated to the Penn Wood Appeal, with the good graces of our raffle winner, Sandy Cohen. Thank you, Sandy!

Pins are still available for purchase. Please email Susanna, US Wing President for more information.

Author Unknown

If we could shrink the earth's population to a village of precisely 100 people, with all the existing human ratios remaining the same, it would look like this:

There would be:
*57 Asians
*21 Europeans
*14 from the Western Hemisphere (north and south)
*8 Africans
*52 would be female
*48 would be male
*70 would be non white, 30 white
*70 would be non Christian, 30 would be Christian
*89 would be heterosexual, 11 homosexual
*59% of the entire world's wealth would be in the hands of only 6 people
and all 6 would be citizens of the United States
*80 would live in substandard housing
*70 would be unable to read
*50 would suffer from malnutrition
*1 would be near death, 1 would be near birth
*Only 1 would have a college education
*1 would own a computer
