Our first featured member is Ben. This was a very interesting interview, so sit back and relax.
I've had my webtv for about a year and one half now. When I saw my first "sales demo" at Sears, I knew I was hooked.
What I wanted was a page to share with others. I wanted to tell about my family & hometown & some of my hobbies. I also wanted it to be humorous. No special reason to choose that particular theme. Sometime I think the theme choose me. LOL. It just seemed the "right" thing to "write" about. I'd love to have you stop in and visit Ben's Place.
This is the reason I picked my email name of BENBUG. When I was a window clerk at the local Post Office, we had a stamp come out commemorating Bugs Bunny. Maybe you remember it? Anyway, I always ended up promoting the stamp & selling scads of them. My fellow employees noticed this and started calling me "Bugs" and because of my name, it became "Benbug". I kind of liked it, so I used it for my E-Mail addy.
As to what I like most about webtv, it's very hard to narrow this down. I like the E-Mail. I like having the TV schedule for 1 week on demand. I like the ease of VCR recording. I like exploring the web for new personal websites and help sites. I also enjoy interacting with other webtv'ers like yourself.
I have a little advice for you newbies. Try to learn HTML. You'll be glad you did. It's a cool tool. Don't give up. Listen, if I can learn it, anyone can. When I started out with my webtv, I knew "nada". 0. Nil. Then one day I received an E Mail with a nice colored BG, an image and music. What's this?? I had to learn this stuff (html) and slowly I did. My first step was to Dr. Draac for HTML lessons and of course you can get your BG's, images and midis there. A regular internet super-store.
Now for a little about myself. I'm 64 and retired (sometime just plain tired) for 2 years and enjoying it. I have 3 wonderful children and 6 grandkids (so far). My wife and I have been happily married for 40 years. My favorite color is blue. I am an avid reader who also enjoys good music and movies. I have a small collection of old records (LP's--remember them?), CD's and movies. I am, of course, a confirmed webtv'aholic. LOL. I live in a small town in NW Pa of about 5,000. I am healthy, happy and living my life one day at a time, An old song says it so well. "Got no mansion, Got no yacht, Still I'm happy with what I've got, I've got the sun in the morning and the moon at night". And I'm still on the "right side" of the grass.
Thanks to all and God bless.
