What is Jitsu?
Jitsu is a martial art based on a moving system of striking, locking & throwing techniques. With a strong emphasis on the use of an opponents body weight and movement, Jitsu provides a highly effective means of countering physical attacks from both armed and unarmed assailants, irrespective of your own strength, weight, or gender.
What are the origins of Jitsu?
Jitsu takes its history from the old system of 'Jiu-Jitsu', which dates back thousands of years to the violent feudal era of the legendary Samurai Warriors of Japan. There, the Samurai developed a system which allowed them to defend themselves once they had been disarmed in combat.
As 'Jiu-Jitsu' developed over the centuries, some of its more specialised applications have been replaced with more up to date and relevant techniques. These changes were introduced to enable the art to match the changing culture of violence and aggression which exists in todays modern society. The result is the art of 'Jitsu'.
