Increased Use of Web in College Classrooms

On the one hand, enhancing our courses with interactive and resource features of the Web will bring us into the mainstream. But meantime, publishers and for-profit corporations are using online and distance education to move into course and degree offering programs. Our Board of Higher Education has already reacted favorably to Phoenix "University" which uses fully employed professionals as "faculty" to mentor students on-site, supplemented by online work for students; no buildings, no overhead, no kidding.
The most recent development is Harcourt Inc.'s development of an online university, with "adequate" advisors and library resources; this is headed by former Massachusetts Commissioner of Education, Robert Antonucci.
