Pack 610 History! News Our Adventures Calendar Links ReadMe
This is theDen 1 web page of The Sleeping Giant District - Cub Scout Pack 610 in Hamden CT. Our sponsor Mt. Carmel Congregational Church is located just about half a mile south of Sleeping Giant State Park. I am Ray Kaville and I lead 7 terriffic Cub Scouts in Den 1. I also belong to the Pack 610 Committee and volunteer for various other activities. Our CubMaster is Jim Traester who is also on the committee (and several other external organizations). Other members of the committee include Bill Hodnick (chairman) and Gail Traester (Jim's wife), We're lucky to have a bunch of fine parents from Tigers to WEBELOS that all pitch in and help the Pack grow. Seems like the magic formula is MORE FOLKS=MORE FUN!
We have about 50 scouts of varying rank from Tiger to WEBELOS in 6 dens. We strive for (and acheive) "Quality Unit" every year, and we try to get out to one or two REAL COOL camp outs per year.
This year by popular demand we are again going to the Battleship Massachussettes for a sleepover. Check this link for directions to Battleship Cove. Other possibilities are the Norwalk Maritime Center, Windsor Air Museum and the Boston Science Museum.
Camp Sequassin was a blast in August! The theme this year was Pirates of Sequassen, and everywhere you went you heard AAARRRGGGH!! Each year the guys work hard and come home with a pile of belt loops and awards for everything from whittling to BB guns. It's four days packed full of fun and excitement (I can't speak for everyone, but I am always grateful to get home and sleep in my own bed! ;-)
Pack 610 participates in all the scout events possible as sanctioned by our Connecticut Yankee Council. We did very well with our Popcorn Sale fund raiser last year - even better than the previous year - and look forward to doing our best again in the upcoming year. Pay a visit to our Calendar to see what else is up, and check out our adventures and news pages. We have some exciting and fun links to follow on the links page.
