Sealing with Buddhist Sanskrit Text - Front View

Eastern India - 8th-12th century CE

Grayish-brown terracotta disk with seal impression. Incomplete impression of the seal.  There is a small hole with radiating cracks in the central portion of the sealing's surface affecting some of the text. Bottom edge of sealing is damaged/chipped.  

Type 2 seal containing 7 (or 8) bands of text in a rounded script.

Undecorated.  Rounded back.  Bottom edge is broken.  Faint ridge impressions from the potter's hands or fingers are present.  Small gouges are visible on left side.

2.8 cm high

2.8 cm wide

0.8 cm thick
