Rainer Maria/Joan of Arc.

OK, I ran like hell across town from Fort Reno to get to the Metro Cafe to see this great show. I arrived two songs into Rainer Maria's set and was I ever blown away. Each song was like an independent, sentient life that kept building and growing until it just exploded full of life and an unsurpassed forcefulness. I heard the Rainer Maria album, but I had no idea that they were going to this good. This show blew all of my expectations clear out of the water. I am crossing my fingers that I will be able to see them in Baltimore. Complete and total awesomeness. Next was Joan of Arc who just put out their wonderful second album, " How Memory Works ". They were obviously drunk, but not too drunk. Very silly acting were they, screwing around until they eventually started playing. Let's see. Some of the songs they plated were "To've had two Of", Post Coitus Rock", "This Life Cumulative", "Gin and Platonic", and several others, including a new one. Towards the end of their set, thet were telling everyone to come to the Baltimore show, but Tim didn't know the place they were playing, so the guitatrist from Rainer Maria told him it was "the Small Testicle". Silly drunk Tim, no actually it's the Small Intestine and hopefully I will be there, too. But anyway, Joan of Arc put on a wonderful show--it was both funny and innovative, as always.

here is a pic I took. this is probably the best picture I've ever taken of a band.
