South Dakota to Wyoming.

7.51 am mdt.

We just entered the Rockies minutes ago. The view is absolutely spectacular and I can see thousand of trees.

Yesterday was not as full as previous days. We started off the day by driving to Wind Cave National Park and once we got there, the excitement began when Dan decided he wanted to get a guided tour of the cave in a tourgroup. At this point, his national parks pass became useless and I was forced to shell out eight bones to take a tour I did not want to go on. I am not bitter about it or anything, it is just at this point in the trip, I wanted to avoid any kind of contact with people. This may seem odd, especially for those that know me well, because I am always talking and I go out of my way to be socialable, but one of the reasons I went on this trip is to get away from civilization and people for ahwile. The last thing I wanted to do was to take part in a tour group with the run of the mill "tourist". Dan was all about being the happy camper on the trip, so he was jumping for joy at the prospect of this. I decided to play nice and go along. It wasn't all that bad, and it was much cooler inside the cave, too.

After Wind Cave, the journey to Wyoming began. It wasn't really a journey, but I was glad to leave South Dakota, so it seemed like it. I had my fill of sandals and cameras around the wrist, which was the bulk of people in western South Dakota.

Our first stop in Wyoming was the border sign, where I promptly hugged the life out of the pole closest to the road. A bit further down the highway was a sigh that said "Beulah 1 mile" which I took a picture of for some indie scene points.

The day ended at Devil's Tower, where I took off on a trail that circumvented the mountain, and Dan went off for some pictures. Around 7.30, we left for Cody, which is right outisde of Yellowstone, but we only made it to Daytona, which is at the foot of the Rockies. We were both exhausted, so we pulled into a small campground in town. Waking up today was refreshing after another comfortable sleep in the car.
