Joe Strummer Pens Score for Druggie Poet Movie

Joe Strummer, former lead singer with the Clash, is composing the score for an upcoming film about the English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge (author of "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and also of "Kubla Kahn" and some other odes to opium). Set to direct the film is hip filmmaker Julien Temple, the man behind such rock films as the Police's Secret Policeman's Other Ball; the Sex Pistol's The Great Rock and Roll Swindle; and Absolute Beginners, starring David Bowie and Patsy Kensit, wife of Oasis's Liam Gallagher. And if Coleridge's rock-and-roll connections aren't clear to you, Temple told the London Times that Coleridge "was the first junkie. He was the original Keith Richards, the perfect subject for a movie."
