The Clash Tribute Album Due In August; Live Album To Come

The long- talked- about Clash tribute album is nearing completion and has a new home. Originally slated for release on Ark 21, the album -- tentatively titled simply Clash Tribute Album -- is now being released on Epic Records on Aug. 25.

According to a spokesperson at Epic, the album currently contains 13 confirmed tracks. The lastest addition is Korn's involvement in the Ice Cube and Mack 10 cover of "Should I Stay or Should I Go." Other tracks include Moby and Heather Nova's "Straight to Hell"; 311's "White Man in Hammersmith Palais"; Rancid's "Cheat"; Mighty Mighty Bosstones' "Rudie Can't Fail"; and Silverchair's "London's Burning." Additional tracks are expected to be added at a later date.

Meanwhile, the members of the Clash are currently working on compiling past recordings for a new live album, which is scheduled for release on a Sony label sometime later this year, according to New Musical Express.

Joe Strummer, Paul Simonon, and Mick Jones have been combing through tapes of the Clash's 1976 London Roundhouse shows, a 1978 Lewisham Odeon show, and their 1982 New York show at Shea Stadium, where they opened for the Who. According to NME, the decision to put a live album together was made after Strummer discovered the Shea Stadium tapes -- which were recorded by Combat Rock producer Glyn Johns -- while he was in the process of moving.
