COMMODORE 64 PROGRAMMER'S REFERENCE GUIDE
Project 64 e-text version 1.0
Converted by Ville Muikkula
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Welcome to Project 64!

The goal of Project 64 is to preserve Commodore 64 related documents in
electronic text format that might otherwise cease to exist with the rapid
advancement of computer technology and declining interest in 8-bit computers on the part of the general population. If you would like to help by converting C64 related hardcopy documents to electronic texts please contact the manager of
Project 64, Cris Berneburg, at <74171.2136@compuserve.com>. Extensive efforts were made to preserve the contents of the original document. However, certain
portions, such as diagrams, program listings, and indexes may have been either altered or sacrificed due to the limitations of plain vanilla text. Diagrams
may have been eliminated where ASCII-art was not feasible. Program listings
may be missing display codes where substitutions were not possible. Tables of contents and indexes may have been changed from page number references to
section number references. Please accept our apologies for these limitations,
alterations, and possible omissions. The author(s) of the original document
and members of Project 64 make no representations about the accuracy
or suitability of this material for any purpose. This etext is provided
"as-is".
Please refer to the warantee of the original document, if any,
that may included in this etext. No other warantees, express or implied, are
made to you as to the etext or any medium it may be on. Neither the author(s) nor the members of Project 64 will assume liability for damages either from the direct or indirect use of this etext or from the distribution of or
modification to this etext.

The Project 64 etext of the Commodore 64 Programmer's Reference
Guide, first edition. Converted to etext by Ville Muikkula. Some errors in the original document were corrected in this etext. C64PRG10.TXT, June 1996, etext #46
*********
I would like to thank the following persons for their valuable help:
Jouko Valta for the memory maps on pages 310-334.
Marko Makela for the combined table of memory maps on pages 264-266.
Cris Berneburg for proof reading.
Kimmo Hamalainen for proof reading.
There was a lot of work, but finally, after five weeks of correcting
OCR-errors and formatting the text to readable format, it is ready. I hope that this massive project shows to the C= community that it is in a fact possible
for one man to convert a 500 page book to ASCII text. One just have to be
dedicated, believe that it can be done and have the PATIENCE for it... and lots of free time. So, who's going to etext Inside Commodore DOS? If you find errors in the text, please report them so that they can be fixed. There should not be many, though...

There are some pictures missing on pages 132,157,162-163,195,364-365,
,377-378,380-381,404,406-407,416-417,421,459,476-477 and 481. Also the
schematics of C-64 are not available. I apologize for the possible
inconvenience this might cause.
Ville Muikkula <vmuikku@yrttis.ratol.fi> or <vmuikku@raahenet.ratol.fi>.

CSL note jan 1999
this item comes on 5 sides and there are a few pages towards the end where the CR isn't there and you may have to re-insert them to suit your WP
the page numbers used on disk are adrift from the actual page numbers
by the end of the book perhaps i think caused by the missing picture pages ?
*************************

The book mapping the C64 is also in e-text format
covering 3 sides of 1541 disks

24 "*** Moby Dick
25 "*** by Herman Melville (1819-1891)
26 "***
27 "*** Born in New York City, the son of New England merchant.
28 "*** He worked at odd jobs (clerk, farmhand, teacher)
29 "*** before sailing to the South Seas on the whaler Acushnet .
30 "*** He deserted his ship, lived among cannibals, mutinied on
31 "*** an Australian boat, then spent two years on an American
32 "*** boat returning to the U.S. He successfully romanticized
33 "*** these adventures, publishing seven novels in six years,
34 "*** including Moby Dick (1851), one of the masterworks of
35 "*** American fiction. His popularity waned, and by the time
36 "*** he died he was virtually forgotten. Billy Budd was
37 "*** his last great novel. As his writing declined, Melville
38 "*** sailed again, around Cape Horn to San Francisco on a clipper
39 "*** ship commanded by his brother.
