Jen Tai

Barbarian and Avatar of the warrior goddess Ulroni.

Backround

Jen Tai hails from the savage barbarian lands of the northern continent of Circ. Her people never rose above the level of primitive tribes, as disasters, plagues, and various other troublesreduced any attempt at greater civilization to short periods within a few generations. The area also had few of the resources neccesary for technology and therefore civilization, to grow. In these lands, the people also live alongside all manner of supernatural menaces and monsters.

Jen Tai is of the Wolf Rider, a warrior tribe inhabiting the eastern part of the barbarian territories. Savage yet honorable warriors, the Wolf Riders worship a pantheon of powerful gods and defend their lands fiercely. In every generation, there comes a time of testing when one is selecter to house the very spirit of Ulroni, the Goddess of War, Mother of Wolves. Jen Tai, a second daughter of the Cheiftan was born under the proper stars and grew strong and fast. She was the quickest, boldest, and most fearless child of her group. At 8 she had the strength of many grown men and by her womanhood her strength was unparalleled.

It was only right that she be tested to become the Avatar. Each trial she took, Jen Tai defeated -- from slaying a Dire Wolf alone and unarmed to venturing into the Valley of Mist and returning with a trophy, the skull of a sky lizard. She took to the teachings of the Shamans as well, learing to call on the Goddess power in battle and to craft healing potions. Jen Tai was chosen avatar and under the full moon at the height of winter, a ritual was performed that bonded her to Ulroni. In that moment, Jen Tai's already great strength was boosted even more. She became one with the wolves, gaining their sharp senses and speed. Her body became ageless and eternal, and only an honorable death in battle would claim her.

However, Jen Tai soon grew bored, ther was nothing left that could truly challenge her as an Avatar of the Goddess. She turned to the Shamans to tell her her destiny, and was told that there would soon be a great battle between the forces of light and dark, and the center of the conflict would be the lands of the south. So Jen Tai set out to the south to find her destiny. She soon encountered a strange woman, one who was also a cat, a great hunter and powerful warrior. At first she thought this cat-woman to be some sort of test, and readied to attack her. But when she saw the cat-woman fight off a raiding party of the dark goblins, she beleived the woman might prove to be a worthy ally instead. The cat-woman's prowess in battle and unparalleled skill at hunting, and her cat-aspect marked her as another avatar in Jen Tai's eyes -- the spirit of the great hunting-cats that roamed the western lands, and therefore a fitting ally for The avatar of Ulroni. And when Talia told of her journey to the south to join a force of warriors known as the Edge Guard, said to be the most powerful warrios in the land, Jen Tai knew she had found her way. She and her new companion travelled south together, and joined the Edge Guard about a month ago.
